Duterte's Impact on the Philippines

I consider myself not pro or anti Duterte but more pro-Philippines. I support whatever is the best for our country. I didn't vote for Duterte for the simple reason that I didn't vote at all. But if I did, I would have voted for him because he is what our country needs -- a disturbance. He disturbs the norms long accepted by the Filipinos -- e.g. Americans are our friends, we should worship them and we cannot survive without them and China and Russia are the enemies.

We have hailed the Aquinos as the saviors of our country. For a long time, they have used Martial Law and Marcos' atrocities so that they can hold power in the government. While most of the Filipinos still remain poor albeit free from the oppressive martial law, we are still chained to poverty and corruption.

We see drugs proliferating yet, like horses with blinkers, our eyes have been kept from looking anywhere else but only what is in front of us. We stay blind on how much damage the drug menace is causing in its wake and wonder why it's impossible to solve them when the drug cartels are operating inside government institutions. How lucky are we to have Duterte to be able to make headway to solving this problem which have been purposely ignored for a long time?

Our country have been blessed to have Duterte. There is no one else more ideal to shape the minds of millennials and will challenge them to think and stand-up for themselves like Duterte. Dirty jokes aside, we have one of the most brilliant statesman ever in the history.

Duterte's opening the minds of Filipinos -- from the masses to the upper class citizens -- and his love of the country above all, will be his greatest  legacy.

Duterte, the first of his name, breaker of chains, builder of realm, destroyer of all evil, light bringer and father of the rising dragon (Philippines).
